La Tallera
Cuernavaca, Mexico
Architect: Frida Escobedo
Photography: Rafael Gamo
Through one single gesture –opening the museum’s courtyard to the plaza by rotating Siqueiros murals from their original position– the proposal for “La Tallera” generates a new relationship between the museum/atelier and its surrounding spaces. With this simple operation, the symbolic elements of the façade play a new role in the architectural syntaxes of the building, engaging the visitor in a new relationship with the museum. [via]

Galeria Centercity Facade
Cheonan, Korea
Architects: UNStudio
The strategy for the building enclosure consists of creating an optical illusion. The facades feature two layers of customized aluminium extrusion profiles on top of a back layer of composite aluminium cladding. The vertical profiles of the top layer are straight; but those of the back layer are angled. This results in a wave-like appearance, which changes with the viewpoint of the spectator (Moiré effect).

“This work is an alphabetical list of the most important architects with their best known building, a lot of them have been left out with grief because we only need one for each letter and it’s been an effort to have different nationalities.”
